What is the cleanup process?

Once your roof installation is complete, the workmen and crew will begin the clean-up process. RoofClaim takes safety seriously and will clean up leftover nails and materials. Workmen will go around the property with a magnet to ensure that nails and debris are effectively picked up. All tarps and ladders will be removed from the premises as well. RoofClaim respects your home and property and works hard to restore your home to pristine condition after the project is completed.

Will you remove my gutters?

No, RoofClaim will not be removing your gutters. If it becomes necessary to do so for code compliance, we will let you know to have the work done prior to your installation date. If you would like to have your gutters removed, you will need to contact the gutter company for that to be completed prior to your installation date. In some areas, we are able to install the drip edge with notches over the nails that secure the gutters to the home. We recommend the gutters be removed by your gutter company so we can install all new drip edge. Then have the gutter company put the gutters back on. We will discuss your options during the inspection depending upon the code requirements in your particular municipality.

Why do you only do full roof replacements?

RoofClaim' s specialty is in roof replacements. Often, it will be more difficult and destructive to fix a portion of the roof than it would be to replace the entire roof. By doing a replacement, it ensures that all materials are consistent for the whole roof. Since we work with your insurance company on your roof replacement, you will be getting a full roof replacement for only the cost of your out-of-pocket deductible. Also, in the state of Florida, we must adhere to the 25% rule which states that if more than 25% of the roof is damaged, then the entire roof must be brought up to code, which often results in a full roof replacement.

What do I need to do to prepare for my roof installation?

Homeowners are given a Homeowners Responsibility document that they should read and follow carefully. Getting your roof replaced is a huge project and to ensure total safety, you should prepare for your installation in the following ways: Remove all valuables from interior walls, shelves, mantels, etc., as vibrations from the construction will cause these items to fall. Remove all valuables and/or breakables such as flower pots, bird feeders, wind chimes, lawn furniture, garden gnomes, gazing balls, water fountains, landscape lighting, etc. from the exterior of the property, including porch and yard. All cars, trailers, recreational vehicles, boats, etc. must be moved out of the driveway (or perimeter of the house) the night before installation, but no later than 6:00 am on the day of installation as our crews arrive early. If cars are left in the driveway, they will be blocked in until completion of the roof installation and will be at risk for damage from falling debris and tools. Secure all pets and animals and do not allow them to roam freely on the property as this is a danger to them. Homeowners are not allowed to walk on the roof or walk the perimeter of the property as this is a dangerous construction site. This is for the safety of both the homeowner and the workers.

What is the date of my installation?

RoofClaim will contact you 1 week in advance of your installation date. A RoofClaim team member will call to schedule and confirm your installation date. If no one answers the phone, we will leave a message with the date of installation. Unless you call back to change the date, then that date will be reserved for your installation. An email will be sent out to you with the date and day of installation details.

Who pays for decking that must be replaced?

Due to unknown decking costs at the start of the installation, RoofClaim requires all homeowners to confirm on the contract that they are responsible for all decking amounts. Insurance companies do not typically pay for these amounts as they see the additional damage as the fault of the homeowner for not having their roof replaced immediately. For shingle roofs, RoofClaim will waive the price of one (1) sheet of decking OR three (3) pieces of planking to compensate for the initial shock to the homeowner of unexpected/unknown expenses. For tile roofs, RoofClaim will replace five (5) sheets of decking OR fifteen (15) pieces of planking at no charge. Regardless of the roof type, all additional decking will be replaced, and the homeowner shall be charged $125.00 per sheet; additional planking shall be charged at the rate of $50.00 per piece. In RoofClaim's experience of installing over 40,000 roofs, most homes require 1-2 pieces of decking to be replaced. The amount of decking which is necessary cannot be known since the deck is covered with shingles. As such, it is truly unknown, and we would have no way to advise homeowners or manage expectations.

Do I have to be home on the day of installation?

No, you do not have to be home on the day of installation. On the day of installation, debris will be falling from your roof. Until RoofClaim leaves the site, we prefer that you do not enter or exit the premises. If you must: Get the attention of a RoofClaim supervisor or crew members so that they may cease work and allow you to safely enter or exit the premises Only walk on hard surfaces such as concrete as roofing debris may be hidden in landscaping Please secure all pets; do not allow them to roam the property

What is decking?

Decking is the layer of roof that is used as the base for roof coverings to be nailed to. This surface needs to be strong enough to be able to hold the weight of the materials on top of it. Decking also provides an extra layer of protection to your roof before the weather-proofing materials are added on top of it. A wavy roof before or after installation is not a problem with the decking; it is a structural issue. The homeowner must hire a general contractor for assessment.

What happens after the installation is complete?

RoofClaim will provide clarity on what happens once your roof installation is complete. As promised, we will assist and walk you through everything step by step to make it hassle-free for you. Here is the breakdown of the completion process. The crew will clean up the property and pick up leftover material. We will send completion documents to your insurance company. Once reviewed, the 2nd check (depreciation check) and any other approved change order requests are sent from the insurance company to RoofClaim or the homeowner. Sometimes a 3rd check is issued and often has the mortgage company requiring endorsement. We schedule a final inspection of the roof with the county. However, we do not have any control as to when the final inspection will occur. That is up to the county. You are allowed to remove the permit packet that is taped to your door after the final inspection passes. You will be notified via email when you have passed the final inspection. 10 business days after you have paid in full, you will receive the warranty packet via email.

What happens if it rains on the day of my scheduled installation?

If your installation gets canceled due to weather or any other misfortunes, RoofClaim will reschedule your installation for the next available opening. RoofClaim schedules installations 1 week in advance. Due to this, RoofClaim cannot promise to schedule you the next day if your original day of install was canceled. Example: Your installation was scheduled for Wednesday. Due to a thunderstorm that day, your installation is canceled. RoofClaim will aim to reschedule your installation to the following Wednesday.

Why can't my installation be the next day if my install gets rescheduled?

Do you put my solar panels back on my roof?

Solar panels must be removed prior to the day of install. RoofClaim does not reserve a date of install without confirmation of solar panel removal date. No, we do not put your solar panels back on after the roof replacement is complete. You must call your solar panel provider to come reinstall your solar panels once the roof replacement is complete. RoofClaim does not put the solar panels back on because this is out of our area of expertise and is not part of the work we are contracted to do.
